Construction Updates

This is the page where Frasers has kept you posted on construction progress, as Trio advanced to completion in stages throughout 2009.

20 November 2009

Trio South is now complete - barring a few details in the penthouses - so our first Trios South resident moved in today, with the majority of new residents collecting their keys in the next few weeks.

4 November 2009

The Trio South strata plan has now been registered, and we await only the very final construction details to be completed for settlements to begin. It looks likely that our first Trio South residents will move in in late November and early December - plenty of time to get settled before Christmas. The landscaped garden between Vie and Trio is completed and opened for use, with large sandstone 'sitting stones' in place. Soon the Club Trio pool and gym will be opened for all City Quarter residents - a landmark moment for Trio and City Quarter residents.

29 September 2009

While work continues on the internal fitout of Trio South, on the other end of the trio of buildings the green wall is thriving! Check out recent images here.

2 September 2009

Drop in to Trio to see the progress for yourself: Saturday 12 September is Trio Open Day, with architect Karl Fender on hand to answer your questions, together with talks on the 'living wall' and the launch of GoGet CarShare by Sydney Lorn Mayor Clover Moore. Download more details here, or just drop by between 11am and 3ish.

26 August 2009

The landscaped sculpture garden adjoining Trio is now complete, with 5 sandstone sculptural seats in place. The stone sculptures were sculpted from 6 tonnes blocks carefully removed and retained when the basement of Trio was excavated. Recycling in action.

14 August 2009

Trio Central achieved 'Practical Completion' this week, so we'll see our first residents moving in as early as next week. Frasers' Client Relations team and Watpac are busy are undertaking pre-settlement inspections and booking handover appointments. The swimming pool is almost ready to be filled with water; it'll take a couple of weeks for the water to heat up so the best time for a swim will be early September.

31 July 2009

Purchasers of Trio Central apartments began their pre-settlement inspections this week, ahead of settlements occuring mid-August. The final details are underway in Trio Central, with the foyer 80% completed. 230 people, on average, are on-site every day, working methodically through Trio Central and on to Trio South. Locals can see more of Trio now than ever, with almost all scaffolding now removed. Patrick Blanc's living artwork is being planted right now, with the protective scaffold being removed mid-August. Read more on this remarkable artwork here.

10 July 2009

The first residents of Trio are now settled in, with over 50 apartments in Trio North handed over to ther new owners in late June and early July. Work continues to complete Trio Central (completing in August) and South (November), with scaffold removed from most of the facades. Visitors to Trio can nnow see the dramatic foyers - with sandstone walls, an indoor/outdoor reflection pool and brightly coloured, mirrored column.

15 June 2009

Trio North was opened for our VIPs last weekend, as an exclusive preview of the Trio Living Collection on levels 5 and 9. Six display apartments were comprehensively explored by over 300 guests, many of whom were future residents keen for their first viewing of the finished building. Trio North buyers are undertaking pre-settlement inspections from now, with the first settlements occurring well before then end of June. It was a hive of activity on site last week, as Watpac and the many contractors worked to completed the foyer, landscaping and roadways by Saturday. The landscaping is a triumph - dense and lush. A magnificent effort by all.

1 June 2009

Locals may have noticed that the footpath along Booth Street has been restored, and new bitumen laid along Alexandra Drive. Within Trio North, the very last stage of works - the ground floor foyer - is progressing well. Stone feature walls and a reflection pond are now installed. Trio North purchasers will be invited to undertake a pre-settlement inspection mid-June, concurrent with the VIP launch of the Trio Living Collection (more about the Trio Living Collection of display apartments here).

May 2009

'Practical Completion' of Trio North is scheduled for early June, so work within Trio North is rapidly approaching completion. The work of each of the trade teams is staged - starting in North, then Central, then South. For example, work installing the timber decks is 90% completed in Trio North and 30% completed in Trio South. Balustrades are 95% completed in North, 55% in South. Carpet is 95% installed in Trio North and yet to commence in Trio South.  A section of scaffold remains on the nothern end of Trio North to facilitate installation of the living artwork - commissioned from Parisian artist and botanist Patrick Blanc - to be installed to this wall in June/July.

April 2009

Work is progessing well across Trio, with most of the scaffolding removed from Trio North to reveal the dramatic and bold facade of the building. Louvres and balustrades have been installed to most of Trio North, with this work just commencing on Trio South. Timber decks are being installed and 90% of carpets have been laid in Trio North. Final painting is 90% complete to level 9 in Trio North, with 70% completed to level 5 of Trio South, which is an indication of how works are being staged across the three buildings.

The very last stage of works is the foyers and common spaces, which remain almost untouched at this stage.

The daily record of contractors on-site averaged 352 people in the last week of March, which is a good indication of the scale of works being undertaken.

Currently Trio North is projected to settle in July/August, with Trio Central following in September/October and Trio South in November/December. During April, Frasers will provide written updates of likely settlement dates, and introduce purchasers to our pre-settlement processes.

February 2009

Work is progessing at a rapid pace with no weather delays for many weeks, with all floors poured up to level 16 of Trio South. Each stage of construction progresses in a sequence from structural works to internal fitout and detailing, with Trio North ahead of Trio South.  Over 300 workers and tradespeople are involved on the site at this stage, with many trades (electricians, carpenters, painters, plumbers, etc) active across the whole development. Internal walls, windows and doors are substantially complete in Trio North and Central. Windows and doors are between 50% and 90% completed. Decking is now being installed and tiling and kitchen works are well underway. Carpeting has begun in Trio North - one of the last stages of the process.

November 2008

The shape and scale of Trio is now all but revealed, as concrete puring has completed to the rooftops of Trio North and Trio Central, and reached level 14 of Trio South. The extraordinary length of the 50metre

September 2008

Good construction progress continues. The core to Trio North has now reached its top level and the roof to the lift shaft is being poured. All Basements have been stripped out and the construction of the plenums, plant rooms and general car park fitout is well progressed. Typical floors are being stripped out as soon as the second floor above is poured. ‘First fix’ services (the rough placement of wiring and plumbing) are now up to level six in all buildings. Façade windows, sliding and bifold doors have commenced in Trio North and Trio Central. Internal walls are being installed in the lower three levels of Trio North and Trio Central.

July 2008

Progress is visble and amazingly fast at this stage, as we approach the 12 month-pre-completion milestone. Services are now being roughed in to lower levels.

May 2008

Pre-cast panels are now being attached to Trio North, the first stage of construction in which the perimeter of the building takes shape. Lift cores reached level 5 and 6 by the end of May, and concrete slabs have been poured to level 2 on Trio North.

April 2008

Watpac, building contractor for Trio, is making rapid progress despite Sydney's extended period of wet weather. Concrete slabs have been poured throughout the basement levels to ground level. Lift cores are being built in advance of each concrete pour, with the lift core completed to level 3 on Trio South. Scaffold is now being installed to the perimeter.
